THE DONCO FAMILY OF RECYCLING COMPANIES

Problem One: A major manufacturer of paper cups and plates was overwhelmed by an increasing number of butt rolls of paper. Handling this waste from the production process was pushing labor costs out of control.

Problem Two: Donco had recently installed a new roll splitter for a local wastepaper dealer but a lack of raw materials made it tough for the dealer to keep the plant running continuously.

Solution: One Donco phone call brought the two parties together in a mutually profitable relationship. The Donco moral: knowledge of the marketplace is as important as knowledge of recycling.

Problem:

A major auto manufacturer built a new plant with one problem: It didn’t take into account how to dispose of the mountain of cardboard cartons from incoming car parts.

Solution:

The Donco Team installed the plant’s first balers. As the plant grew, Donco installed an automated baling system to handle the increased volume of corrugated cartons. Donco developed new markets for both the scrap corrugated and office waste generated throughout the plant. The solution didn’t stop there. As the Donco Team went deeper into the plant’s waste stream, Poly Recyclers developed markets for various plastics generated throughout the plant and arranged for less-than-truckload quantities to accommodate the plant’s storage constraints. Then Ramblin spotted a trailer of scrap metal and cans. Recycling this scrap cut pilferage` eliminated double handling and increased the plant’s revenue.
